This double bun style I wore during my trip to China. These buns kept my hair out of my face in the punishing heat and humidity – they also delighted the children I was teaching. Going there and being in a completely different space influenced me to make the painting featuring a Chinese moon, a house, and a lily flower. I have distorted my own anatomy here, as I am not the same creature there that I am anywhere else in the world.
