The open hand is placed outward. This hand is receptive and patient. It shows the opposite of closed in this picture. When I first started painting this I was working with  a painting that already had flowers as part of it. These rare gifts, beautiful animals and plants, we can only experience them if we are open to them and the joy they can bring. When closed off and deciding nothing is worth it there is no way anything good can blossom in our lives. That is what this work is about here, it's the beauty of opening up and being patient.
