This painting is of a kale I saw outside a convenience store in Toronto. Kale, the winter vegetable, is strong and often is the last harvested in the fall. Its leaves can stand up to the chilly weather. This was a snowstorm I saw in November, and the owners of the store quickly moved all their other stock inside but left this one tough plant out in the cold.
