This is a painting of the Toronto Island Airport, named after Billy Bishop (a famous Canadian pilot). A big part of my life when I lived downtown was just seeing Toronto as a stage for the lake (the lake as something we are watching) and then a hill, where all the citizens sit and look downwards (south). I painted this from a memory of a foggy day from a highrise building, where my partner at the time was staying.
